WHAT ARE ESSENTIALS OILS?

Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants.

Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence.

Essential oils are obtained through distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing.

Once the aromatic chemicals have been extracted, they are combined with a carrier oil to create a product that's ready for use.

INHALATION:

When essential oils are inhaled through the nose, aromatic molecules are carried through the lining of the nasal cavity via tiny olfactory nerves, located in the roof of the inner nose, to the part of the brain called the limbic system. The limbic system in turn influences the endocrine system and the autonomic nervous system. The limbic system also plays a role in controlling some unconscious physiological functions, such as breathing, heart rate and blood pressure. Some people claim that essential oils can exert a physical effect on your body in this way.

The endocrine system is a major regulatory force in the body. It consists of glands that secrete hormones into the bloodstream; these hormones act as chemical mediators to regulate many bodily functions including mood, metabolism, and growth and development.

The autonomic nervous system operates, for the most part, below the level of our awareness. It connects the brain and spinal cord to the limbs and organs and directs, via electrical impulse, basic instinctive bodily functions such as heart rate, digestion, respiration rate, salivation, perspiration, and sexual response.

While it may seem counterintuitive, inhalation can be the most direct method of delivery for the healing components in oils. Through the nasal cavity, the chemical messengers have direct access to the brain and can go straight to work on the systems that moderate the body.

TOPICAL APPLICATION:

When essential oils are applied to the skin (through gentle massage), their healing components are absorbed into the bloodstream. From there they disperse to the specific organs and systems on which they work. Some of the essential oils' components, carried via the bloodstream, can also pass through the blood-brain barrier to the limbic system in the brain, where they can influence the endocrine and autonomic nervous systems.

Whether inhaled or applied topically through gently massage, essential oils can help bring about fundamental changes in physical, mental and emotional wellbeing by triggering, and strengthening our bodies' own natural responses.

Essential oils will be specifically selected according to your health condition. Certain essential oils have affinity for certain organs in our body and through their topical application provide a deeply healing experience. This is very relaxing, and people report feeling rejuvenated, calm and peaceful. Some even fall asleep during the session.

BowlSOUND THERAPY

HOW DOES THE SOUND THERAPY WORK?

Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).

This same concept is utilized in meditation by regulating the breath but with sound it's the frequency that is the agent which influences the shift.

WHAT IS IT LIKE?

A sound therapy treatment is both a passive and participatory experience. The passive aspect is that you become more relaxed by laying down and slowing your breath. By doing this, you prepare yourself to become the receiver of sound. It's in this place of stillness that you participate by becoming more open and aware of each sound that comes in. Sound helps create the pathway to this place of stillness the same as a mantra helps you to arrive at the still point of meditation.

Some of the tools I use are voice, Planetary Gongs and Himalayan singing bowls. It's important to note that awareness plays a huge role in our own healing.

The physical body is where we experience localized pain and discomfort. Using Gongs and Himalayan bowls can stimulate the release of Nitric Oxide, a free radical molecule that has been proven to positively affect pain transmission and control. Which, in short, means that these frequencies help to create a physiological reaction, while the sound itself helps to influence our auditory system, enabling us to modify our relationship to the pain.

Our "subtle body" is our energetic body. This body is where our life force energy exists, commonly referred to as Qi, Chi or Prana.. In Chinese medicine, meridian points are used to pinpoint areas that have restricted energetic flow to our physical and subtle bodies. The body is known to have thousands of these meridian lines that are mapped out through the body, in the same way we've mapped out the latitude and longitude of the earth.

The subtle body holds imbalances and traumas that can eventually manifest in our physical bodies, which is why it's important to look at healing and balance not only from a physical perspective, but as a complete holistic experience that includes mind, body and spirit.

If we apply frequency with Gongs and Hymalayan bowls we can help blocked energy from past experiences move toward the energetic filtration system of each chackra so that the stuck energy can be recycled back into our life force.

WHAT CAN SOUND HEAL?

Using sound as therapy can provide results for a variety of issues including:

HOW DOES THE SESSION LOOK LIKE?

The whole session you are laying down on the floor or on the massage table covered with the blanket, fully dressed and listening to the sound and receiving the vibration from the instruments playing around you or being placed on some parts of your body to maximise the healing effect.

Reiki REIKI THERAPY

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe Japanese method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF REIKI?

There are many wonderful benefits of Reiki. Reiki is a very simple process, but usually produces quite profound effects. The main purpose of a Reiki treatment is not only to support the physical body, but also to promote a positive mind so you can experience more joy in life. The great thing about Reiki is that one does not have to be ill to experience the benefits.

Some come to Reiki to help with their energy levels, managing the stress of daily life or when transitions are happening in their lives. Others will come to develop themselves spiritually and experience a greater sense of meaning in life. Many of my clients are well and want to stay that way so reiki helps them to maintain that harmony so they can respond to the challenges differently.

After a treatment most people feel calm and relaxed, some say they feel energetic, clear-minded and productive. Many who come for Reiki treatments realise that balancing their systems can help them to cope better with a wide range of health conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and infertility to mention a few.

HOW THE SESSION LOOK LIKE?

A complete Reiki session is offered to a fully clothed client who is lying on a treatment table or sitting comfortably supported in a chair.

Most commonly, Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with the practitioner's hands placed and held on a series of locations on the head and front and back of the torso. The placement of the hands should never be intrusive or inappropriate, nor should there be any pressure.

WHAT YOU MIGHT EXPERIENCE WITH REIKI SESSION?

The experience of Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat in the practitioner's hands, but sometimes the practitioner's hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body.

Some people fall into a deep sleep, like meditative state. Sometimes the experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for other people, the first session in particular may be uneventful, although they feel somehow better afterward. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on. Perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive, and sleeping deeply that night.
